Herbal medicines in general are safer than modern drug. This matter is caused by the fewer side effects of herbal medicines than modern drug. Side effects of herbal medicines can be reduced with the used of right materials, accurate dose, accurate usage time, accurate way of usage, accurate analyze information, and without abusing of herbal medicines itself.
Accuracy of materials determines the effect of herbal medicines. Dose measuring in set of gram can lessen possibility the happening of effect which do not be expected. Information which is not supported by adequate basic knowledge’s and enough study can make traditional drug return to endangering. Herbal medicine also as the economy opportunity to have income in herbal case, and the writer want to share the meaning of herbal and kind of herbal plan then the last topic is the opportunity herbal has in business.
INTRODUCTION
1. Background of Study
Indonesia is the country that very strategic, because Indonesian is between two continents (Australia continent and Asian continent) and two oceans (Pacific Ocean and Hindia Ocean). Therefore, most of people in the world see Indonesian as one place that suitable to plan a plan. Indonesian in the past time is the centre of trading in the world. From Samudra Pasai kingdom, Banten, and Sriwijaya kingdom that make Indonesian to be famous in the world. And Indonesia is a country which contents much kind of plants. Indonesia also kind of megabiodiveristy country because Indonesia is a rich country in medical plants with big potential to be developed, but have no worked optimally. Plants in Indonesia nature around 30.000 kind of species from 40.000 plants in the world, where 940 plants are medical plants (this amount represent 90% of medical plants in Asia). Based on research from 40.000 kind of plants only 20-22% is cultivated, while the rest or 78% is obtained take direct from forest (exploration).
Actually Indonesia has potential in medical plant when it’s cultivated properly, it will be very useful in economic term, social culture, or environment and society. Utilization of medical plant in Indonesia has started since Indonesia ancestors and until present. Involving various stakeholders from the elements: suppliers, traders, users, etc... Developing countries have an important role in supplying raw material of pharmaceutical products (38% for medicinal and aromatic plants, 24% for vegetables SAPS and extract, and 11% for vegetable alkaloids).
In 2005 the European Union recorded a net importer of spices and herbs with a total of 358.2 thousand tones and imports continued to increase 4% / year since 2001. As many as 60% of the total imports of spices, herbs are from European Union countries, but not from Indonesia but from China, India, Morocco, Egypt and Turkey. Thus there is an opportunity for Indonesia to export to the EU market.
In its development nowadays, more and more parties interested in the use and development of TOI, ranging from government agencies, farmers, private entrepreneurs, industry, R & D institutions, universities, NGOs, associations up to the individual observer TOI.
From the results of identification in the field, there is several important issues related TOI development, which includes: preservation, cultivation and post harvest handling TOI. Issues of concern that has not worked and is still a lot of 'homework' for the stakeholders.
TOI species diversity, research results, market potential and the number (quantity and diversity) of the above stakeholders is a tremendous potential for Indonesia, which when synergized will be strength. In Indonesia, currently 80% of the population has known and been using herbal medicine. Prediction WHO (1985) 80% of world population has used medicinal plants for health maintenance. Attention people of the world for drugs and cosmetics are made from raw plant (the spirit of 'back to nature') to encourage greater use of TOI and wider. As a form of recognition from the government, Brand Jamu Indonesia has declared on March 4, 2008.

Based on background of study that shows us kind of the opportunity Indonesia has in export term in medical plants, and the writer gets the formulation of the problems, into:

What is herbal?
Since hundreds of years ago, an ancestor of our nation has been known for mixing herbs and traditional medicines. Various types of plants, roots, and other natural ingredients formulated as a medicinal herb to cure various diseases. Ingredients were also used to maintain body condition in order to stay healthy, prevent disease, and partly to beautify themselves. Proficiency dispensing materials were handed come by our ancestors from generation to generation, from one generation to the next, come to our day. Dr. Albert Miller say herbal is a plant that is valued for qualities such as medicinal properties, flavor, scent, or the like.
Herbs have a variety of uses including culinary, medicinal, or in some cases even spiritual usage.

Herbal is more general that what we think, actually herbal is a predicate which is given for plants that have function to heal people and effect for user, we have know every single food which we consume is containing herbal although with low level such as chili or red pepper, onion, ginger and many others. We never think those are medical plants that have many good effects for our body, for example coto betawi, makasar, pecel and any others food. People think those food are containing cholesterol and it can affect our health but actually those food have herbal material that have function to neutralize cholesterol. So it mean herbal is useful for all case. In now days many people back to nature to heal their diseases because they know that chemical medicine has bad effect in containing long term and they realize that herbal medicine safer that chemical medicine and herbal medicine also more effective.

To carry out this process requires more complex equipment and high-priced, plus with power supportive working with the knowledge and skills of making extracts. In addition to the production process with advanced technology, this type has been supported by scientific evidence of studies pre-clinical (animal tests) with standardization nutritious matter content, standard of manufacture a medicinal plant extracts, standards of hygienic production of traditional medicine, and toxicity test or chronic.

We can think that in around of the world there are 40.000 kinds of species in plant, Indonesia having 30.000 species. How wonder Indonesia if it’s cultivated, how many rupiahs Indonesia get. But the problem is the technology in managing medicinal seed crops in Indonesia is low.
The problems in developing traditional medicine is a large part of raw material (about 80%) come from forest or natural habitation and the rest about 20% from traditional cultivation. Raw material supply which still depends on nature has caused genetic erosion on at least 54 kinds of medicinal crops. To guarantee the continuous supply of raw material of traditional medicine and also to anticipate the increasing demand in the future, it is needed to develop medicinal crops farming.
One of the problems in developing medicinal crops is lack of information about utilizing of high quality seed and seed research activities. As a result most of farmers still use bad quality seeds and finally it will influence the productivity and quality of the product. Besides that more than 80% of medicinal crops are counted as recalcitrance and hard to handle. According to those problems, researches have been conducted in relation with harvesting time, seed production, seed handling, seed drying, seed storage, and seed packaging.
The writer want to give example an entrepreneur namely B.mahendra. mahendra is producer of insane herbal and he start his work during 2006 until 2010, insani herbal is running well.
